I first saw Crossfit on a youtube video in 2009. It included a Tabata style workout with pushups. I paused the video, tried it in my room, and was quickly humbled. From that point on I became obsessed. I watched every video I could and tried workouts in the comfort of my own room. Until finally in 2011, I went into a gym and tried my first Crossfit Teens class and never looked back. I found that my life outside of the gym was different because of my life inside it. I started surrounding myself with great people who were like minded in chasing greatness. In 2016 I started coaching and saw Crossfit in a new light. It was no longer only a means to pursuing fitness and looking good, it was an opportunity to empower individuals to do things they never thought they could do before. I had come to love this different side of Crossfit. Instead of chasing PR’s for myself I chased after helping people get their first pullup, first box jump or muscle up. It became less about me and more about others. Crossfit gives you a place to feel safe, welcomed, challenged, and motivated. Coming to the gym used to be the best part of my day because of the results I saw in myself, now it is the best part of my day because of the community I get to interact with and invest in.
